about

This song is intended to be on a split cd/zine with the hardcore band Georgian. <myspace.com/georgiangeorgian>
I wrote the beginnings to this song on my way back from vacation in North Carolina. I remember looking out the window at all the lifeless buildings near a rest stop in DC, and feeling so alone in the company of only the stars. As I sat in the car on the long road home, sleep deprived, and cold, I imagined I was in a crowded room. I imagined all of my friends, and everyone who loved pat, singing in unison. The quote at the end of the song is adapted from the movie 'Hook'.

lyrics

they say pints of Guiness are supposed to make you strong
well this vodka sure makes me feel weak
the nights you spent
toasting alone to your heartache
tonight to you we drink

mended hearts by vein threads swinging
miles apart or arm in arm singing
you can borrow our heart pumps for just this evening
so we can spend one last night together drinking

goodnight my sweetest friend
for tonight we flood the world
till buried to our sails in sand
sail on! boys and girls

stormy seas won't anchor me

the salt dries at our eyes
sadness nearly makes us choke
smiles around another round of the poison
proves to clear our throats

"You know that place between sleep and awake,
that place where you still remember dreaming?
That's where we'll always love you.
That's where we'll be waiting..."
